Sprung arch car kiln built in Half Moon Bay, California March 2022. Jesse and Randall at Kelly Ave. asked for a large car kiln to fire 6’ tall pots, and 4’ diameter platters. Kiln is 6’3” tall, amounting to 130 cu/ft of space. Super duty Clippers, 2600 and 2300 insulating brick, along with Seneca 60P around the flue will provide a lifetime of service, powered by 2x 800k btu/hr Ward power burners. Arch is #1 2600 soft brick, insulated with 3” IFB 2300, 3 layers 1”, 6lb. Fiber, and 1.5” scratch coat stucco with vermiculite. Greg Horrace and I built this kiln in 14 days.
